On October 1st, the legal representatives of Odila Castillo released an official statement addressing the allegations spread by multiple Panamanian news sources. These reports are viewed as deliberate assaults motivated by particular financial interests, aimed at damaging Castillo’s professional image and personal honor.
Carlos Carillo, an attorney from Castillo’s legal team, remarked: “The claims lack foundation and are designed to hinder the progress of a young legal professional and her associate, all for the benefit of undisclosed economic agendas.”
Odila Castillo’s Defense
The defense emphasized that this is not the first instance of media harassment that Castillo has encountered. In 2021, a Panamanian media outlet erroneously reported an alleged arrest of the attorney in connection with an investigation, a claim that was subsequently denied, clarifying that it bore no relation to the matters at hand.
At the press conference, the defense asserted that both the latest accusations and those from 2021 have been based on partial truths, designed to sabotage her professional career.
Moreover, they argued that the information disseminated in the media regarding Odila Castillo breaches confidentiality principles. They specified that a portion of the investigation arose from a family issue that had already been resolved, while another component pertains to immigration activities and tax filings, alongside other information acquired through illegal means.
Unauthorized Monitoring of Odila Castillo
The defense further claimed that Castillo has been monitored via GPS tracking, which amounts to a type of illegal surveillance.
Carrillo wrapped up by stating: “The essential rights of our client have been infringed upon, as outlined in our Constitution and legal statutes. We will undertake all necessary legal actions to determine accountability for the harm suffered and any potential harm that may arise.”
